- Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be dry, clean and sound. Remove mechanically any oil based or loose products. The existing substrates must also comply with the applicable local and national standards and regulations in each case. The respective substrate must be tested in accordance with the applicable standards and when in doubt contact Kiesel technical department. Follow additional guidelines located in TTMAC and TCNA manuals.
- Processing
Shake container before use.
Okatmos® DSG as a moisture barrier:
Okatmos® DSG is applied as a two or three coat system to wooden substrates and non-absorbent substrates undiluted with a lambskin roller, high quality paint roller or brush on the substrate. On absorbent substrates, Okatmos® DSG is diluted 1 : 1 with water for the first application. After drying, a second or third application is undiluted to obtain a proper moisture barrier based on the required reduction of RH value. The third coat is applied when the second one is completely dry. Allow the applied primer to dry thoroughly.
Apply Okatmos® DSG to the substrate with the Kiesel Primer or similar evenly over the entire surface and filling the pores. Avoid pooling. Not to be used over hydronic radiant floor heating as a moisture barrier. Can be used over electric heated floors.
Allow the primer to dry thoroughly after applying each coat. Not to be used over magnesium oxide, xylolite flooring, sulphate lye.As a primer bonding agent:
Okatmos® DSG can also be applied over well prepared cutback adhesive, old terrazzo, particle board, chipboard, OSB, cement backer units and concrete screeds and well bonded ceramic tiles. When used over existing exterior tiles a waterproofing membrane Servoflex DMS 1K Plus SuperTec is required. Metal and similar substrates must be rust-free and cleaned with Acetone.
